Me with producer Lee Groves. (I met him in Australia!) I’m wearing American Apparel dress and vintage ankle boots, not pictured.
My one stop blog for fashion, wellness, beauty, and all that terrific stuff? Refinery 29. It’s this week’s Friday Fave, guys. I pretty much go visit every single day just to look at all the pretty pictures of new trends in fashion, make up secrets and healthy recipes! True story.
You guys, for some reason I WOKE UP AT SIX AM this morning and then I couldn’t fall back asleep! So I decided to go on a hike and listen to Kate Bush. I have a number of records of hers that I adore, but this am I listened to Hounds of Love (1985), from front to back. “Running Up That Hill” is probably my most favorite song on the album, and it’s really incredible how the production and style is relevant even to this day. (She wrote and produced the whole thing!) Plus, she is a STUNNING CREATURE with awesome fashion sense. Just look at her in this picture.
Happy Friday! I woke up at 4:30 this morning to fly into Los Angeles for a bit. FOUR THIRTY AM, you guys! (Have I mentioned I’m kind of sleepy?) So when we landed, I basically went straight from the airport, threw my stuff inside my place, went to pick up my writing partner for the day (the extremely talented and handsome Jacques Brautbar pictured below), and RACED to the Sunset Junction Intelligentsia for coffee. Let it be known, one of my most FAVORITE THINGS IN THE WORLD is an Intelligentsia iced soy latte. True story.
Happy Thursday! This morning I’m listening to The Ronettes, one of my favorite girl groups from the 1960’s. I love this picture BECAUSE LOOK AT THEIR HAIR. I only wish I could pull that off. Even though they weren’t the most commercially successful girl group of that time, “Be My Baby” is one of those songs that every time I hear it, it brings back so many memories from my youth. Hello, Dirty Dancing. (Also, did you know they were the only girl group to ever tour with The Beatles?)
My hump day hero is singer and actress, Zooey Deschanel. I think she’s hilarious and adorable and sometimes people say I kind of remind them of her. (!!) She’s got great style and I would probably wear pretty much EVERYTHING SHE EVER WOULD. Check out www.hellogiggles.com and her band She & Him. (M. Ward isn’t so bad himself, you should check him out too.) This afternoon I’m listening to She & Him Volume One.
Today I was walking around Nordstrom with my mom and a song came over the satellite radio or whatever they use that I HAD TO KNOW who it was. (That rarely happens to me.) Turns out the song was “Do-Wah-Doo” by Kate Nash, who I really like. I didn’t find anything cute, but you guys should really check her out.
One of my very favorite friends happens to be one of my very favorite artists here in Portland, and she is this week’s Friday Fave! She’s done the beautiful art for the last Oh Darling record and our new EP that will be coming out soon. Her name is Brooke Weeber and her work is MAGNIFICENT. Trust me. Go buy everything. (You can thank me later.)

Happy Thursday! This morning I found myself listening to a bunch of old Doris Day records while cleaning up my room a little. And then I looked on the internet and found this ADORABLE picture of her. Her makeup and hair are both so relevant for this day and age, right? And I’m pretty sure I need to find her sweater/dress thing to add to my wardrobe. She’s pretty cute. And what a voice!
